Do you watch sports programme?

Have you ever watched NBA Games on Jak TV or “One Stop Football on Sunday” on Trans7 ?

If you have, then I assume you are quite familiar with this face:

Can’t recall seeing her on those programmes? Maybe it’s because you saw her on “Insert” (INFORMASI SEPUTAR SELEBRITI…ahuhuhuhu) in which she’s also one of the presenter.

Weird isn’t it? Terry Putri hosts infotainment on weekdays, and then on weekend she hosts sports…

I know, these days famous athletes are just like celebrities with fans around the globe. Some of them also hang out regularly with celebrities, or even have one (or two,,maybe three!) celebrity bf/gf/spouse… I think that’s the only thing that connects sports with the glamorous life of celebrity.

When someone with vague background about sports hosts a sport programme, it’s better if he/she has sufficient knowledge on the game, the team, and the players. Even if he/she still can’t cover that, he would have the commentators to help. I think, a good spontaneous attitude, combined with good humour is enough to be a decent sports host/presenter.

But I just can’t see Terry Putri has the minimum requirement. No good humour, lacking in spontaneous attitude, very minimum knowledge about the game (maybe she only had a glimpse about it from the script she read prior to and during the live broadcast), and not even an attractive face! I wonder why those producers still use her… To add with all those insufficiencies, she hosts the programme with a “very typical infotainment habit” : CELETUKAN-CELETUKAN GA PENTING!! *can’t find how to say it in English*. At times, she would abruptly cut the commentator while the man is still speaking!

Here’s one example atau yah kira2 bgini lah:

Komentator(K)          : “Dalam pertemuan pertama, Yao Ming lebih dominan ya.. Dan waktu itu juga dia membawa Houston Rockets menang dari Milwaukee Bucks, jadi dibandingkan Yi Jianlian…”

Terry Putri(TP)          : “Kesimpulannya Yao Ming masih lebih hebat ya Bung, dibandingkan Yi Jianlian.. Walaupun kalo ketenarannya di China mereka sama-sama populer..”

K         : “Oh ya.. Tapi Yi kan masih baru di NBA sementara Yao kan su..”

TP       : “Owkey Bung..”(!?!?!?!?) 

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against her. I also appreciate the growing number of women hosting sports programme on Indonesian TVs. Deasy Novianti (also an infotainment host!) still has a very good humour. Fiantika (yet another infotainment host…) has, at least, a very cute face (ups!). Donna Agnesia (I’m not sure, but I think she also had been the host of an infotainment) is a better sports presenter than her husband, Darius. And of course, Tamara Geraldine, a “veteran” sports presenter especially in basketball.

Please, just be more selective! Terry Putri should stay on infotainment. I won’t even care if she’s also doing pretty bad there…
